Quick answer
Current live-game guidanceWhat to do first
Craft three Bells from nine Bell fragments at a Black forge, then use them at Fader's Ashlands altar. Bring upgraded Ashlands equipment, fire resistance barley wine and enough stamina to keep moving. Avoid the ground fissures and persistent fire; fire resistance is not immunity. Fader himself is immune to fire and spirit damage, so do not make those your main damage plan.
Find the altar and prepare the Bells
- 1
Search the central towers of Charred Fortresses for Bell fragments and a Vegvisir pointing to Fader's altar.
- 2
Collect nine fragments. At the Black forge, three fragments make one Bell; you need three Bells in total.
- 3
Visit the coliseum-like altar and clear nearby threats before placing the Bells. Prepare a recovery portal outside the immediate battlefield.
- 4
Once everyone is ready, place the three Bells at the summoning points around the coliseum.
Bring a movement plan, not just armor
Use a weapon you can control during short openings. Blunt, slash, frost and lightning are viable damage types; pierce is resisted, while fire and spirit are ineffective against Fader. His green appearance does not make poison his defining damage type or grant him poison immunity.
Keep fire resistance barley wine active and bring healing supplies. Choose food for your weapon: melee needs stamina as well as health; magic needs Eitr without leaving you unable to run. Repair before summoning and put spare meals somewhere you can reach after a death.
Heavy armor can be a valid choice, but it cannot turn a burning patch of ground into a safe place to stand. Walk during quieter moments so that you can sprint when the ground attack demands it.
Read the dangerous moments
| Threat | Response |
|---|---|
| Close bites, claws and spins | Avoid lingering by the head. Take a short opening, then be ready to dodge the next attack. |
| Meteors | Keep moving into clear space. Do not stop to finish a combo where impacts are landing. |
| Ground fissures and green fire | Leave the affected ground immediately; look for a clear escape route instead of trying to block the hazard. |
| Summoned enemies | Clear anything blocking your path, keeping enough distance to watch Fader. Do not let a small enemy pin you inside fire. |
| Several hazards overlap | Prioritize survival and reset your position. Delaying damage is better than a difficult tombstone recovery. |
If an attempt fails
Before returning, restore food and resistance effects and decide how you will reach the tombstone. In multiplayer, coordinate the recovery so another player can draw attention away without pulling the fight onto the portal.
After victory, collect the trophy and relics and keep them safe. Check the current Deep North guidance before assigning the relics a future crafting purpose.
