Equip the hammer and inspect the support colors. Blue is grounded; green through red shows diminishing support. If a new piece breaks, improve its connection back to the ground, shorten the span or use a stronger supporting material. Repairing a piece restores health, not missing structural support.
Start at the failing piece and work downward

Stop adding more roof pieces. Inspect the failing area with the hammer and find the last well-supported piece beneath or beside it.

Trace the connection toward the ground. Check that a pole actually touches its foundation rather than only appearing aligned from one camera angle.

Add a more direct support down to a grounded base or reduce the unsupported horizontal span.

Where your resource tier allows it, use core-wood or wood-iron supports appropriately instead of extending a weak chain with more ordinary wood.

Wait for support to settle, then rebuild one piece and inspect again before completing the whole roof.
Do not assume decorative bracing behaves exactly like real-world engineering. Valheim calculates support through connected pieces; adding many weak contacts is not the same as adding a strong grounded connection.
What the colors do and do not mean

Choose the next fix by material
Wood-iron pieces can carry support farther than ordinary wood, but they still need a sound connection. A metal pole attached only to a weak roof is not an independent foundation. Check the whole path instead of judging a beam by its appearance.
Stone is useful for foundations, but horizontal stone spans need careful support. Simply swapping every wooden piece for stone does not make a floating floor stable.
If you remove a supporting piece, connected parts can lose stability afterward. Add the replacement support first when practical, then inspect nearby floors and roofs before taking out more of the old structure.
