Contain the boar, drop accepted food within reach, then stay nearby but out of sight. Taming progresses while it is fed, calm and in an active area; without a special taming brew, uninterrupted taming takes about 30 minutes. For breeding, keep two tame adults fed and close together, with room for offspring and no nearby threat.

Prepare a pen and a way out for yourself before luring a wild boar inside. Close it securely and move away from its line of sight.

Drop raspberries, blueberries, carrots, turnips, onions or red mushrooms within reach. Yellow mushrooms and cooked meals are not substitutes.

Remove nearby fire sources while the boar is wild. Clear other threats without standing over it and repeatedly making it alert.

Wait nearby where it cannot see you. Yellow hearts indicate taming progress; being hungry or alarmed pauses that progress.

Leave enough food for interruptions and wait for the tame state before trying to establish a breeding pair.
The active-area requirement matters: sailing away to another island will not finish a normal tame for you. Sleeping does not speed it up. Keep a safe waiting spot close to the pen rather than repeatedly approaching to inspect the percentage.
Turn a tame pair into a sustainable herd
Keep two adults within about three meters of one another, feed them, and leave space for piglets. Nearby boars count toward a local breeding limit, so move grown offspring away from the breeding pair when production stops. A larger fence alone may not separate the animals far enough.
Offspring are tame from birth. Preserve your best breeding stock and separate animals intended for harvesting. A Butcher knife can kill tame livestock; do not test it on the only pair you want to keep.

Use the animal's current state to choose the next fix. Adding more food will not solve a threat, distance or population problem. Test one change at a time so you know what restored breeding.
