Quick answer
What to do first
In Odyssey space travel, check pressure and temperature separately. A warm room can still be unsafe in vacuum. Verify a sealed habitable area, working oxygen support and suitable personal protection before exposing colonists; then inspect each pawn’s actual equipment and route.
Match your symptom
| Symptom | Likely cause | Check | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warm room is unsafe | Pressure is missing | Inspect vacuum state and sealed boundaries. | Repair the leak and restore oxygen support; heat alone is not enough. |
| Oxygen system exists but room fails | Power, connection or enclosure is wrong | Inspect the pump, power and openings. | Correct the specific fault and verify the room’s state. |
| Only one pawn is affected | Protection or route differs | Check worn equipment, policy and exposure. | Move them to safety and supply appropriate protection. |
| A guide relies on an implant or gene | Extra DLC is assumed | Check required expansion and the actual item. | Do not substitute optional Royalty/Biotech features for an Odyssey baseline plan. |
Separate pressure from temperature
Before launch, create a habitable area that can remain sealed and supported. An oxygen pump does not make an open structure safe. Inspect the pressure conditions, doors and power, and keep in mind that temperature control solves a different problem.
Check seals, oxygen and equipment
Check personal protection as worn, not merely as an allowed outfit. A vacsuit sitting in storage cannot protect a pawn working outside. Plan routes so ordinary jobs do not send unprotected colonists through vacuum unexpectedly.
Rescue a pawn safely
If a pawn is already in danger, move or rescue them into a verified safe area before diagnosing every system. Then inspect the cause: damaged enclosure, missing power, equipment policy or an unsafe route. Reopening the same area before the fault is resolved repeats the emergency.
Optional cross-DLC protection
Some options require more than Odyssey: the vacskin gland involves Royalty, and relevant genes involve Biotech. These are optional cross-DLC branches, not prerequisites for every space colony. The 1.6.4850 notes include an outfit-policy fix for vacsuits; old reports about removing suits must be checked against version and mods.
